Sometimes it would run for hours before it popped the GFI, and sometimes I couldn't even reset the GFI without letting the fridge rest for hours. As a test, I used an extension cord and plugged it into a non GFI outlet and sure enough it tripped the circuit breaker. Since OP stated when the light burned out, his breaker was tripping every other day.
