As you should be aware by now, FEMA along with the FCC has scheduled the 2024 National Periodic Test (NPT) for Aug. 11, 2024, at 2:20 p.m. EDT. Should conditions arise that interfere with the transmission of the test on Aug. 11, the backup date is Aug. 25. All EAS equipment must be tested on a weekly basis. The required weekly test (RWT) consists, at a minimum, of the header and end-of-message tones. Though an RWT does not need an audio or graphic message announcing the test, many stations provide them as a courtesy to the public.
