I noticed the ticking on mine at 185,000 mi. I was going through a drive-thru to get a coffee and with my car up against the building, I could hear the sound bouncing off the wall.

WebAug 21, 2024 · Everything runs perfect and it drives smooth and there is no rough idle at all. I just heart this noise and I had a 4.0L in my old Cherokee that made tons of noise but everyone says these 3.6 engines are supposed to be whisper quiet and that has not been my experience. If they did, the mechanics job would be much easier. It is mostly found on 11-13 Pentastars that were used on Wranglers, sporadically on Dodges as well.
